Mr. Gash, who was born at Dundalk, Ireland, V arrived in Auckland .; ■ 60 years ago, and resided in this district :^S : until his death. He was a" Maori War veteran, and for over 25 years was in, the. : ?~ employ of Mr. F. Lambourne, ironmonger. ', He retired about 12 years ago, and suW quently went to live at Waikumete. 'Mr.; ; Gash is survived by. his widow, four sons, • '-' and two daughters. j . ;,|| , - ' : *~~\ ;.,".,;, >1 MRS. CECILE DENT. ' Another old colonist, Mrs. Cecile Dent, ■- died yesterday at the residence of her-;'.' daughter, ■ Mrs. Hollingsworth, Stratford Street, Parnell, at the age of 97. Mrs.' . Dent was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs., • McGlinchy, of Tyrone, Ireland, ; and arrived in • Australia in 1831, ■in the ship Ellen, emigrating to New Zealand 33 years -, ' ;> later, with her husband t in-the :.barqu»/> Novelty. Mr. and Mrs. ,Dent settled in - the ; Wliangarei <■. district, where Mr. ' Dent engaged in farming. Mr. Dent died about ■'■■■ 34 years' ago/ his widow residing 'in th« ; v- v .*, North until 1915, when she came to ■ Auckland. J Mrs./ Dent leaves' four daughters MM, Mesdames Holingsworth, Filmer, and . Hardwick, 'and Miss Dentr—and three son* > ' —Mr. William , Dent. i. Mr. John S. Dent, Mayor of Whangarei, and Mr. . Robert Dent. -She is survived also by, 25 grand- >v children and 19 great-grandchildren.
