Last week an old war pensioner, wear- | ing his medals, called in at the Red Jersey | committee rooms, and when tendering one I shilling as hie contribution to the appeal, .$ stated that ha had borrowed It from a . M friend in order to pay it in before the ,'m appeal closed. He remarked that he knew ": fm what it was to be in want, but wanted to ■ v?d| do bis bit. > : i$M A newspaper vendor came in to the com-*''i|| mitteo room with a donation of a guinea. He stated that ha had a very limited in- ''01 come, but he. had managed to put together %$m this amount to assist the boys at the front. >£,$ A sympathetic woman called in and .-..Vj handed in one shilling for the fund wd $M two packets of arrowroot for the Army -../m to give to some poor person. The latter y:|| was handed to the Army's Samaritan %;>M officer, who said she would see that theV"s|| woman's wishes were carried out. "jm The committee are pleased to see quite' -:M a number of young people coming in with %*J donations of shillings and haJfcxowns, having evidently practised a little self-denial \| to give to tie cause, .
