BISHOP FOR THE FRONT.
DR. W. C. vSADLIER SELECTED.
The Anglican bishop of Nelson, Dr. W. C. Sadlier, has been selected to go to Kurope as senior Anglican chaplain of the New Zealand Forces. Referring to his appointment last Sunday, the bishop said that four of the English bishops, with a staff of 4000 chaplains, had been ministering to British soldiers on the •western front during the last four years. The Australian soldiers at the front had never been without one of their bishops since the war began, while one of the first things that the Church in America did was to withdraw Bishop Brent from his important work in the Philippine Islands and send him ,with their earliest troops to France. New Zealand, up to the present, had been the only Dominion which had not sent one of its Anglican bishops to minister to its soldiers at the front. The bishop added that during his absence confirmations in Nelson and Marlborough would be administered by the Bishop of Wellington, and on the West Coast and in the southern part of the diocese by the Bishop of Christchurch.
