RECAPTURE AFTER ESCAPE
GERMANS IN INTERNMENT.
TUNNEL THIRTY FEET LONG.

Four German officers, accompanied by their servants, escaped from the Stratford internment ramp, by digging a tunnel a distance, of 50ft. They were recaptured after having walked 70 miles, hoping to escape in a heat to the Belgian coast.
