FIRST CLASS C BALLOT.
DRAWING NOW COMPLETED
PUBLISHED NEXT WEDNESDAY.
The first ballot in Class C of the Second Division was completed shortly before mid-day on Tuesday. The drawing had proceeded smoothly and rapidly, and when the last of the 10,000 names had been taken from the roll the Mayor of Wellington congratulated the Government, statistician and his staff on their work. He said that the manner in which the ballot was conducted was a credit to all concerned. Mr. M. J. Reardon, who had watched the proceedings as the representative of the Wellington Trades and Labour Council, said he was quite satisfied as to the absolute fairness of the system. The Gazette containing the names of the selected men is to be issued on Wednesday next. The names of the men drawn in Auckland and the neighbouring districts will be published in the He t ali» on Wednesday morning.
