GERMANS FARE BADLY IN RAIDS ON BRITISH FRONT.

HEAVY LOSS IN SURPRISE ATTACK ON AUSTRALIANS. Australian and N.Z. (Received 5.20 p.m.). LONDON. June 7. Mr. Percival Phillips writes: Enemy raids constitute the sole activity on the British front, all proving utter failures. The Australians were the heroes of the following typical raid: At least 200 picked German infantry participated in an expedition against the Australians south of Morlancourt. They expected to catch the Australians napping. Their disillusionment could not have been more complete. The Australians captured 21 men and four machine-guns. Twenty-five bodies were counted in No Man's Land. Other raids north of Lens, north-east of Hinges, near La Bassee, east of the Nieppe Forest, and south of Ypres all left prisoners in our hands. In only one place were British prisoners taken.
