DEATH OF OLD COLONIST.
MRS. MARY SEYMOUR.
One of the oldest settlers in the Kaipara district, Mrs. Mary Seymour, of Woodhill, has died at the age of 76 years, after a painful illness. Mrs. Seymour left Boulanderei, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, in 1852, -with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Donald McDonald, of Waipu, in the Highland Lass, for Adelaide. The family, with the early Waipu settlers, came tc New Zealand in the Gazelle, in 1853, and went with the first settlers to Waipu in 1864. In 1865 Mrs. Seymour was married to the late Mr. J. J. Hoe, and settled with her husband in the Kaipara district. Mr. floe died in 1882, leaving four children Mr. Richard Hoe, Mrs. Gregory, Mrs. Monk, and Mrs. Vellenoweth, all of Woodhill. Some years later Mrs. Seymour was married to Mr. C. H. Seymour. During her long residence in the district she lived an active, strenuous life, ard was noted for her kindly self-sacrifice and her strong religious convictions, being a generous supporter of every Christian work.
