At tho conclusion of the first sitting of the recruiting conference, the DirectorGeneral of Recruiting, Mr. D, McKinnon, who is acting president, announced that no report of tho proceedings would be given until the conference has closed. (Reed. 6.25 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 14, Tho Government has remitted the kentences on Mcßistal and Riley, two of the leaders of the late strike, who in November last were each sentenced to nine months' imprisonment fo" making seditious utterances. The amendment moved by Mr. Boyd ; in the Houso of Representatives upon the i Supply Bill, as a protest against the defence administration, has been accepted by the Government as a motion of noconfidence.
