THREE PERSONS SHOT.
SENSATION NEAR OAMAKU 'FARMER DIES FROM WOUND. TWO SISTERS INJURED. [by mEGiuni,— association.] OAMARU, Sunday. A sensational shooting affray occurred at eight o'clock this evening at Gemmells crossing, on the Kakanui River, about ten I miles from Oaraaru, i A young married farmer, George Burke, and his two Bisters were shot without provocation. Details of the tragedy are meagre. Burke died before medical laid could be obtained. The young women, one of whom is in a serious condition, are expected to reach the hospital after midnight. It is reported that the assailant was a man belonging to Oamaru, and that he used an automatic revolver. A police sergeant and constables were early on tho scene, but have not yet returned to town.
