THE METHODIST CHURCH.

AUCKLAND WEST CIRCUIT. The quarterly meeting of the Auckland West Methodist Circuit was held at St. John's Church, Ponsonby. The Rev. H. E. Bellhouse, chairman of the district, presided. It was reported that the work during the quarter had been satisfactory. The membership showed an increase in both seniors and juniors. An increase in the number of Sunday-school scholars was also reported. The financial statement showed that the debit balance brought forward from the previous quarter had been substantially reduced. It was reported that during the quarter a Sundayschool teachers' conference had been held. Votes of condolence were passed to the families of the late Mr. John Alison, MrsWilson, and Pr.vate Mattison. Reference was made to the forthcoming visit of the Rev. J. W. Burton, of Melbourne, as foreign mission deputation, and arrangements were put in hand for suitable meetings.
