PRESENTATION.
Sub-Inspector Broberg, who has received notice of his transfer to Wellington, yesterday made his last appearance at- the Auckland Police Court before proceeding South. Mr. B. McVeagh, on behalf of the legal profession, ■ expressed the regret felt at the pending departure of the subinspector, who, he said, had proved himself to be of sterling character, and an officer of undoubted ability and integrity. Messrs. H. H. Ostler, R. Singer, and A. Moody also paid a tribute to Sub-Inspec-tor Broberg. Mr. P. V. Fraser, S.M., said the magistrates could not help notic- , ing the constant readiness with which the sub-inspector made known redeeming features about persons who were being prosecuted. Sub-Inspector Broberg briefly acknowledged the remarks of the various speakers. . A presentation of two travelling rugs was made to Mrs. Broberg, through SubInspector Broberg, at the Central Police Station last night. Inspector Johnson, ! who made the presentation on behalf of I members of the force, spoke of the good feeling that existed between the sub-in-i spector and his colleagues of all ranks. Senior-Sergeant McNamara spoke in a I similar vein.
