FAILURES IN BALKANS.
SAFEGUARDS FOR FUTURE. A. and N.Z. PARIS. Nov. 13. Mr. Lloyd George, in a speech in Paris, described himself as the only Minister of any belligerent holding office since the outbreak of war. Therefore he was competent to review the facts boldly. Roumania was crushed and the gates of the East opened simply because it was nobody's business, to guard the Balkans, and the rich corn and oil fields passed to the enemy. The allies had there committed an incredible blunder. We sent forces to Salonika to rescue Servia. as usual, too late. Never again must there he such inconceivable fatuity. We must realise our battle-front is continental, not local. The Italian front is just a3 important to Britain as to Germany.
