NEW BRITISH APPOINTMENT (Received 5.5 p.m.) A. unci Router. LONDON*. Oct. 12. The War Office announces that Major--1 General J. M. Salraond has been appointed Director-General of Military Aeronautics in succession to Major-General Sir David Henderson, who is undertaking special work, after having held that office since • 1913. i Major-General .1. M. Salmond entered , the Royal Flying School in 1912. and received an appointment as instructor at the Central Flying School the same year. He saw service" in the South African campaign with the Royal Lancaster Regiment, and has also served in the present war, 2 winning the D.S.O. in 1914. MajorS General Sir David Henderson has held . the position of Director General of Milll tarv Aeronautics since 1913, having prei vio'usly been in th* A\;\l and Suther- ■ land Higlilanders. He has a long record » of service, his campaigns including the • Soudan and South Africa, while he also served at the front in the present war. J ' --■ ' . i'fvi
