PRISONERS TAKEN DURING PATROL ENCOUNTERS. Australian and N.Z. and Reuter. (Reed. 11.5 p.m.) LONDON, SepK 30.
Sir Douglas Haig reports: We repulsed an attempt to raid two points, at Hill 70, north of Lens, capturing a few Germans. We also took a few prisoners in patrol encounters in the neighbourhood of the Bapaume-Cambrai Road. Our artillery' has been active on the Ypres front, there being considerable hostile artillery work at points betwe.en the Ypres-Comines Canal and St. Julien. \
