VITAL STATISTICS.
FIGURES FOR LAST MONTH. DECREASES ALL ROUND. The vital ! statistics for the Auckland" registration district lor September show decreases in all figures, as compared with, the corresponding month last year. The number of births recorded last month was 229, a decrease of 41. The deaths show a decrease of 34. _ Marriages were fewer by 24, Tho details for Inst month ara as under, the figures for September, 1916, being shown in parentheses:— Births 229 (2701 Deaths 107 '1411 Marriages ... 8) (1C8) The marriages last month include 30 performed by tie Registrar, as against 36 in September last year. A comparison of tho first nine months of the present year with the corresponding period of-last year shows an increase in the number of births by 40, a decrease in deaths by 20, and a decrease in marriages by 146.
