POLICE COURT NEWS.
TRAVELLING WITHOUT A TICKET.
Charges of using abusive language to a railway officer at New Lynn, and travelling by train between Auckland and Henderson without a ticket, were brought against Thomas A. Lindsay (Mr. Moody) in the Police Court before Mr. P. V. Frazer, S.M., yesterday. Sub-Inspector Broberg said that when defendant was asked on the train for his ticket he said it had been collected, but the guard, on inquiry, found this was not the case. When asked for his fare defendant raised his hand to the guard, and when the train arrived at New Lynn he used abusive language to the guard. Counsel said defendant had had domestic trouble, and had been drinking. Defendant was fined £2 and £1 14s Id costs. ASSAULT ON A STEAMER. A greaser, Harold Peterson, admitted assaulting the first and fourth officers of a vessel in port, and damaging the third officer's coaft. Accused was ordered to pay £h 4s, the value of the damaged coat, sentenced to seven days' imprisonment, and ordered to be placed on board the vessel before she leaves Auckland.
