BACK TO CIVILIAN WORK.
SOLDIERS GIVE SATISFACTION.
A question- was asked at the meeting of the executive of the Auckland War Relief Association yesterday whether the services of returned soldiers in civilian employment has been found to be satisfactory.
The chairman, Mr. J. H. Gunson, said that a large number of returned men were employed in warehouses, in the post office, and many were engaged in various capacities by the City Council. All the men who had come under his notice were giving entire satisfaction. There were a few odd men among the returned soldiers who, in civilian employment, were not satisfactory in some respects, but it had to be borne in mind that some of these men were still in a serious condition, of health. .The effects of the strain of active service'had made it physically impossible for them to settle themselves to work. " The association should be exceedingly careful." said Mr. Gunson, '* in expressing any opinion upon this matter." Other members supported the chairman, and spoke of the satisfactory nature of the work performed by the majority of returned soldiers.
