NEW FOOD CONTROLLER.

CHECK ON SPECULATION. VIGOROUS ACTION PROMISED A. and N.Z. Cable. LONDON, June 18. Lord Rhondda, the new Minister in Charge of Food Control, announces that the Government has given him ample authority to deal with the whole situation, and has empowered him, if necessary, to take over the country's food supply. He says he will firmly check speculation. "When thousands are making the supreme sacrifice in the cause of liberty, the profiteer is a blackmailer," he said, " and must be treated as such. My first effort will be to reduce the price of bread."
