LICENSING COMMITTEE.
AUCKLAND CITY HOTELS.
Tim annual meetin" of . the Auckland Citv Licensing Committee was held yesterday. Present :—Messrs. E. 0. Cutten, 8.M., chairman, "J. Grace, and J. Trevithick and Dr. King. The police reports stated that in cases where repairs and alterations were required, the licensees had undertaken to attend to them. The licensees of two hotels were reported to have been under the influence of drink, but, as there' was nothing to indicate that they were not isolated cases, no action was taken. In a case where general uncleanliness was alleged, the explanation that the condition was exceptional, owing to the licensee's illness, was accepted. A man had alleged he had been swindled out of £16 while playing with dice with other boarders, but the police considered there was not sufficient evidence for action, as the licensee disclaimed any knowledge of the game having been played.
