FIFTY YEARS AGO.
A. THE 57th REGIMENT. DEPARTURE .FOR ENGLAND. • ■ (Prom the Herald of April 1. 1867.) - ' The men - and officers of ; the 57th !| Regiment, lately stationed in the Waikato district, arrived in Auckland, and were inspected at the Albert Barracks by Colonel Beatson. At 10 o'clock - the .whole regiment were marched on to . thd' parade ground, and, aftec going through th& ordinary/ evolutions under ■ the direction of Colonel Sutler, were formed into line. The band then struck up a lively air, and. having marched past in quick time, the men dispersed. They have since embarked for England.
