WAITEMATA BOATING CLUB. ♦ ' Trial fours {or W. Suckling and Company's trophies— pocket cameras— rowed ;on _ Saturday. Tho northerly wind rather sooilt the water for scientific rowing, being almost too rough for outriggers. In spite of this unfavourable state of -affairs, the racing.was good. Tho first heat, : between 0. Wolfgramm (stroke).' G. Wolfgramm, E. Buckler, R. Mc(■ollough. and. J. Magee (stroke), P. Goodall W. Madden, A. 'Smart,- was a good eo. Both crews • got.. away together. ■' Wolfgramm's four soon had a lead of a few feet, which was maintained -for most of the distance. Magee did make a slight showing of coming up when nearing tho finish, but Wolfgramm spurted and cleared tho lino with a good length lead. ~- ■•;.-' The second heat, between H. White (stroke), A. Wolfgramm, M. KronfeJd, G. C tearoe. and A. Andrews (stroke), L. Lewis E. Becker, H. Black.-., was well fought out, and s only _ won in ~ the. last- part'■ of the lpurney, - White's lighter crew getting over the .;. - rough . water abetter \;than' their opponents. , and >':. eventually-- gainir-g the nidges decision by one and a-half lengths. The final fully caruo up; to expectations of a good hard contest.
