R. ; Wilson, farmer, Puketona, said his brother, who was also his partner, was on active service.- Two other 'brothers enlisted in England. The appeal was adjourned sino die, or ! until, partner . returns fit :to take ; over,- tho farm, -"7 ■ J. Rodgers, dairy : farmer, Taumarero, said ho owned 600-acres of partly-improved land. . He was milking 22 cows* and running 50 young '; stock, with 16 cows to come in. He had five married brothers and one single one, the latter having enlisted. The appeal was adjourned ; sine die,* | i '•;• D, I Henley, ; farmer, Kaikbhe, said he .worked his father's farm of 1200 acres on which was a heavy mortgage. About 300 acres were in graaß. '■" His fathor had tried to sell the farm. The appeal was 'adjourned sine die. 77:"J.. A. M. Fabutean, farmer, Kawakawa, asked for exemption fori three •■■ months. Appellant stated that he had farms of 160 acres and 200 acres respectively 7 He was arranging for the management of his farms during, his absence. ' Exemption was allowed until May 31. J. H. Armstrong, farmer,.Pakaraki, appealed for three .months' exemption to arrange his affairs. Appellant stated that he was leasing his farms.' Exemption to May 31 was allowed. v G. E. Kielon, sheepfarmer, Kaikohe, stated he had made arrangements to lease his farm. 7. Exemption" was allowed until May 31. ' ■ . "
T. H. Dixon, farmer,' Okaihau, appealed on religious grounds and undue hardships. Appellant : stated that; he ; and ; his -.brother milked on ; shares /with; their father, and also had farms of their own.; They, milked 40 cows arid ran young stock on their own farms. / He ; belonged - to. the : Testimony of Jesus, and believed that it was against the teachings; of Jesus to take up arms. W. H. Dixon appealed on the same grounds, and also 4 stated 7 that '■: he was medically .unfit. The'' board decided that ono brother should go, "and' directed that \\. H. Dixon-should be re-examined and T. H. Dixon granted leave until May .31. ' :■■ F. P.
