TEPID BATHS GALA. GOOD TIME BY PATTERSON. A very successful swimming carnival organised by the Onehunsa Swimming ana? Lite-saving Club was hold at the Tepid baths fiobson Street, on Saturday afternoon. The seating accommodation was taxed to tho utmost, and tho many excellent contests were followed with the closest interest by the spectators. The programme, a very long one. was run through promptly to time, ana all the arrangements in connection with the gala worked smoothly. There were' two championship events listed. The , Auckland provincial 75yds , .championship was won by E. U. L. PatterI son in the excellent time of 435, 1 3-5s inside the previous record tor the distance The winner was closely 1 followed over the entire uisiunce by L. L.ronteid, tho Urammar School champion, who was well up at tho finish. The 220 yds ladies' championship event was carried off 'by Miss D. Farquliar, ! who proved the possessor of. too much pace and staying power for tho field. Miss Gladys Webley (Auckland junior ladies' champion) filled second place, defeating Miss Kathleen MacKenzie Hawke's Bay champion,. comfortably. A display of two methods of .rcscuo and release will also bo given. The society, not having ■ repeated any of the demonstrations this year, is determined to finish the season without a repetition. HAMILTON SCHOOLS CARNIVAL. A combined primary schools' swimming carnival was held at Hamilton on Friday afternoon. It was a great success, and the hope was expressed that the school committees would take the matter up and make the fixture an annual one. The following are the results: Learners' Race: D.
