PATRIOTIC ASSOCIATION.

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE.

A mhetixc of the Executive Committee of the Auckland Provincial Patriotic and War Relief Association wan held yesterday after, noon. The Mayor, Mr. J. H. Gunson, presided, and there also were present: Messrs. Wesley Spragg, C. J. Tunks, H. D. Heather, N. Alfred Nathan, S. Milroy, J. C. Milne, A. G. Lunn, and E. A. Craig. A letter from the Rotorua centre of the association, in reference to a matter on which it had been advised by the executive, was read. The letter contained the following passage:—" We note with satis- 1 faction that your executive has confidence in our administration. We do our best at all times to act up to, not only in deed but in spirit, the meaning of the funds, but we recognise that your experience in any important matter of administration is far greater than ours, and accordingly we do not take any important steps without first of all laying the case before you." Members of the executive expressed their appreciation of the tone of the letter. The report of the Relief Committee stated that 121 cases had been dealt with since the last report, 13 of them being new cases. The amount distributed in relief during the fortnight ended December 20 was £194. The amount received in refund since the last report was £75. The visiting agents had been instructed to increase the weekly votes at Christmas! time in necessitous cases. j

The question of making- satisfactory arrangements in regard to the lease of the site of the Onehunga tea kiosk was referred to the Mayor and the treasurer,' Mr. Craig. The Mayor stated that a report showing the position of the funds at the end of the past year would be presented at the next meeting of the committee.
