BOWLING.
OPENING OF SUMMER GREENS. The official openings for the season of the Tonsonby. Dominion Road, and Tali&puna Bowling Clubs' greens will be hold this afternoon. The official opening tor the season of the Mount Albert Bowling Club's green will be hold next Saturday. IMPROVEMENTS AT PONSONBY. The members of the Ponsonby Bowling Club will celebrate the inauguration of a new state of affairs to-day. At tho end of last season tho club secured the freehold of the property upon which its greens are situated, and immediately afterwards a comprehensive schemo of improvements was decided upon. Under the energelio direction of Professor Maxwell Walker, the club's president, the improvements have been made in time for to-day's opening, which will thus mark a new era iu tho club's history. The scheme included tho erection of a twostorey the laying down of four extra rinks, which will bo used as a winter green, and a croquet lawn. Tho addition cf the new rinks will give the club a total of 19, on three grcons. Tho pavilion has been built facing the north., and from the balcony there is an a'most unrivalled panoramic view of land and seascape stretching from the Vailnkcros. in tho west, to the islands of the Hauraki Gulf in tho east. In addition to up-to-date arrangements for tho convenience of members, the pavilion contains a social hall 50ft by 21ft. To-dav's gathering promises to be very large, as 'invitations to bo present have been accepted by representatives of the various city and suburban clubs.
