SOLDIERS' CLUB.

FORMATION IN" CHRISTCHURCH. A meeting was held in Christchurch this week to consider the establishment of a Returned Soldiers' Club. It was stated by the chairman that the rooms that had been used for the purpose were no longer available, and it had therefore been decided to convene a meeting with a view to ascertaining what assistance could bo obtained toward the establishment of a, properly equipped club. Mr. J. J. Dougall, of the Patriotic Fund Committee, suggested that a sum of not less than £10,000 should bo raised for the formation of a club, but other members did not favour this proposal. It was decided to ask the Mayor to call a meeting of Christchurch citizens to consider tho question of establishing a permanent Soldiers' Club.
