ALPINI TAKE POST AFTER CLIMBING PRECIPICE. Australian and N.Z. Cable. (Received 7 p.m.) ROME, September 16. A communique says: " Our infantry continued to attack east of the River Vallone. The left wing captured San Crado Height from a strong garrison. Further south large entrenchments were taken near Loquizza and cost of Oppachiarella. We took 1100 prisoners." Another communique says: "Our Alpini climbed a precipice at Mount Cauriol, and captured a strong position on the summit, at a height of 7727 ft, killing nearly all the Tyrolese Alpine defenders, and making prisoner the remainder." (Received 11.5 p.m.) AMSTERDAM. September 16. An Austrian communique admits a slight enemy gain in the Carso sector. Alpini captured a point d'appui westward of the summit of Mount Cauriol.
