The Amsterdam correspondent of the London Daily Chronicle states that for a week past Lemberg has been in a state of semirevolution. The exasperation of the population is showing itself in hunger riots and peace ' demonstrations. The police were unable, perhaps unwilling, to quell the disturbances, and before the soldiers arrived angry crowds forced their way through the principal streets, smashing windows. Vigorous military measures restored order.
