ITALIANS SHOWING ACTIVITY AT VALONA. Australian and N.Z. Cable. (Received 9 p.m.) LONDON. August 23. An Austrian communique states: Enemy activity has increased in the Valona region of Albania." A German communique states: "We stormed new positions at Star , Wipczyna, in the Balkans, and made good progress, • clearing the highlands west of Ostrovo. We repulsed Servian attacks in the Moglena Mountains." ' Valona is an Albanian' port, on the Adriatic, 58 miles south of Durazzo. It is situated at the south end of a lagoon a mile and a-half inland from the Bay of Valona, The town has for some time been occupied by an Italian' force.
