AUCKLAND RACING CLUB. PROGRAMMES ADOPTED. The programmes drawn up in connection with the four meetings proposed to be held at Ellerslie during the coming season by the Auckland Racing Club were finally passed by the general committee of that body yesterday. With war conditions still pressing, no large increase in the amount of stake money was expected, and the programmes are cast pretty much on the same lines -as those of last year. Additions previously decided upon in certain classic events raise the value of the Welcome Stakes. Great Northern. Oaks, and Great Northern St. Xieger to £850, £600, and £850 respectively, and the only other increase decided on is the raisins of the stake attached to the Great Northern Steeplechase, from £1250 to £1400. The total sum allotted in prize-money is £43,000. which is £450 in advance of last year, which stood as the record. With the Auckland Cup carrying prise-money to the extent of £2500 (in addition to a trophy of the value of £150), and 13 other events distributed over the season ranking as four-figure races, there is much to interest horseowners, and that the A.B.C. continues firm in the determination to keep up the fame of Ellerslie the programmes adopted yesterday afford striking proof. The comparative table attached shows the amount of prize-money given in the preceding five years, and that decided on for this eteason, from which it will be seen that the stake money has mounted up in a remarkable manner this year's allotment being £14,085 in advance of that which was distributed in 1911-12: — 1911-13 1912-13 1913-14 1914-15 1915-16 J. 916-17 *££££* 28.915 32,675 35.710 41,450 42,550 43,000
