THE RUGBY GAME.

MEETING OF FXIOX.

A STEETIXO of the Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby Union was held last evening. Present: Mr. F. J. Olllson. chai» man. Messrs. O. Nicholson. M. O'Connor. J. 11. Pagni. H. Frost. A. Twiname. S. Hinton, P. Mackio-. and A. Tilly, hon. secretary. The secretary of the Taranaki Busby Union wrote suggesting that a. match be arranged between the Now Plymouth Boys' High School and tho Auckland Grammar School at Auckland. The New Plymouth bey? recently defeated Te Ante College by a fair margin of noin's. It was further suggested that :i the New Plymouth boys were invited to Auckland a return match in New Plymouth might be arranged It was decided to reply that a match, could not Ik- arranged w.th the Grammar School, but it was possible that arrangements could be made for an Auckland team to play the Taranaki boys at Eden Park on September 9. THE LEAGUE GAME.

.MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The Auckland Rugby League met last evening. Present: Messrs. R. Benson, chairman, I. Fellowes. B. Pollock. C. Baker, T. Feilding. >". Culpan, R. A. Spmiey, •nd R. McDonald. The Riverhead Club wrote stating that owing to enlistments, it was unable to raise a team for .the remainder of the season, and asked permission to withdraw from the competition. The request was granted, and three members were transferred to the City second grade team. Th Junior Advisory Board wrote stating that it had suspended a Thames Old Boys player for two years for misconduct in the .Thames v. Ponsonby match at Victoria Park, on Saturday. The board's action was approved. Leave was granted the Grafton fifth grade team to play at Thames in September. The League agreed that the _ final match in the Roope Rooster competition, between City and Ponsonby teams, be played at Victoria Park on Saturday next. The secretary was instructed to write congratulating the Ponsonby Club on its success in winning the popular player competition held last week. ARRANGEMENTS FOB SATURDAY. THE ASSOCIATION GAME

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE.

A meeting of the Auckland Football Association was held on Tuesday evening. Present: Mr. D. A. Williams, chairman, Messrs. Carmichael, Turley, Harrison. Gribble. Bannister, Campbell, and L. Warren, hon. secretary. It was reported that during the Soldiers v. Auckland representative match, played on Saturday, a collection was taken up for the purpose of providing extra comforts for wounded soldiers at the annexe at the Auckland Hospital The amount collected and ground fees donated totalled £5 10s. It, was resolved that Mr. Bannister visit the institution and report next Tuesday, and that the chairman be authorised to disburse the amount as required. Clubs' officials who are holding cups and shields won during last season are requested to forward them to the secretary or members of the Auckland Football Association as soon as possible. According to the rules the trophies should be returned to the Auckland Football Association on or before August 1. It was decided that the winning teams in the first and second divisions be awarded the _ trophies, which would under ordinary circumstances be allotted the winners of the senior and second division competitions, and that the third and fourth division cups be inscribed to the effect that owing to the great war no third and fourth division competitions were held, and that the age limit had been instituted. The war conditions will also V>e noted on the first and second division trophies. Should Saturday next see the conclusion of the first division competition it, is intended to play a representative match v. last season's remaining and returned players, with the idea of adding to the meagre funds of the Auckland Football Association. The hon. secretary, Mr. L. Warren tondered his resignation owing to his approaching departure for Trentham training camp. Mr. Warren will leave next week with the twentieth reinforcements, and, in accepting his resignation. the chairman said he had served the Auckland Football Association for the past three years as recording secretary and after a- hon. secretary. He was pleased that Mr. Warren was willing and able to take his place in the ranks, and wished him a speedy and safe return. The members and delegates present extended personal farewells. Mr. Howard Gribble, a member of the Auckland Football Association, has signified his willingness to act as secretary. Mr. Gribble is an old W.Y.M.I, player and a great worker in the boys' division.
