Preston. C. B. i Reid and \V. A. Wilson. Correspondence- was received from the Franklin Association in regard to the match to be played against the Auckland second- | grade champions. It was resolved to ask the I University Club to alter the date of its I match against the country association to ; August 26. to enable Franklin to play at Re--1 muera on September -2. The Areta. Club was granted permission to I send a team to Frankton on a date to bo i arranged. ■ The secreta-T- reported thai he had called i a. genera! meet.ng of all club delegates to be i held on Friday next to authorise the issue i of new debentures. j The referee's report in connection with ■ the Areta-Edendale wiund grade match. ! winch was stopped by him shortly after halfj time on Saturday, was considered. The report i alleged that at least two members of the | Areta team were not ploying to win. inas- , much as they did not take reasonable steps to stop the opposing team scoring. The two players were called before the committee and given full opportunity of answering the charge. Evidence from other quarters was also taken which tended to uphold the referee's contention. The players concerned denied the imputation and called evidence in support. \fier full consideration the committee d*c*7ied that the referee was- ; right in' assuming that one member of the j Areta team went on the field with no idea. <>f playing to win, and that he was justified ; n stopping the game. It was hold that this player was guilty of unsportsmanlike conduct and he was warned against future misconduct, but in regard to the other, while his statements were considered unsatisfactory, the conflict of evidence justified bis; being given the benefit of any doubt. It was resolved that the match be replayed under the control of two referees and supervision of two committeemen.
