FRENCH NATIONAL DAY.
A NEW ZEALAND MESSAGE.
HOMAGE TO THE DEAD. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Tuesday. In reply to the request of the London Daily Chronicle, Mr- Massey sent a message on behalf of New Zealand expressing affection and admiration for French comrades on their National Fete Day. The message refers to the fact that our men are fighting side by side with the gallant sons of France, and pays a tribute to the French chivalric courage, heroic endurance and patient self-sacrifice, and concludes by paying homage to the dead. Of the latter, the message says :— " Tneir fame is as imperishable as their deeds are immortal to France. To France's dauntless army, to our other allies, and to our own British soldiers, we <>ay ' Fight on, victory is certain. God will defend the right.' "
