Y.M.C.A. AND THE WAR.
COMMISSIONER IN FRANCE. MR. SMEETON APPOINTED. The appointment of Mr. H. M. Smceton, of Auckland, as commissioner in France and elsewhere for the Young Men's Christian Association has been confirmed by the national council of that institution. Mr. Smeeton leaves New Zealand on August 8 next, at his own expense, to take up the duties he has undertaken. , He ■will be accompanied by another commissioner, whose name has not ret been announced. Mr. A. Varney, secretary of the T.M.C.A., Wellington, has been, appointed supervisor of the New Zealand field serN Tic© secretaries in France.
