REQUISITION OF CHEESE.
DEPUTATION TO MR. MASSEY. PRICE SUGGESTED. [BT TELEGRAPH. — SPECIAL CORRESPONDED.-!-.] WELLINGTON, Friday. Represent of cheese companies of the Dominion waited upon the Prime Minister to-day, and conferred with him regarding the proposal to requisition the whole of the cheese output in the coming season. There were upwards of 20 representatives preset. It is understood that emphasis was given to the increased cost of the production of cheese under present conditions and B|d for first, grade cheese delivered at freezing works was indicated a a reasonable price.
Mr. Massey stated that he could not say whether the proposal would be acceptable to the Imperial authorities, but he promised to communicate with the latter on the subject. The following committee was appointed to continue the negotiations : —Messrs. Powdreil (Ta.ranaki), Wise (Wairarapa), Jewell (Maria watu;, Allen (Cambridge), and Pacey. the last-named being the nominee of South Island companies.
