BUSINESS ON PARLIAMENT.

CLOSE OF THE SESSION. PROBABLE AT END OF JULY. [BT XELEGEAPH —SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON. Friday. Now that the Finance —the Committee stage of which proved much shorter than was anticipatedhas so far been disposed cf, the business of the session has been considerably narrowed down. The only remaining Bill as yet on the Order Paper is the War Regulations Bill, which contains a clause giving power to the Government to deal with the control of the liquor traffic. There is much speculation as to how much time the anticipated discussion on the question of early closing will occupy. Much, of course, depends upon the results of the efforts that are being mads to arrive at a compromise. The Public Works Statement has yet to make its appearance, but this will be a far less interesting document than usual, in view of the fact that so little money is available for expenditure on public works. There will be the ordinary Washing-up Bill, and another Bill, as yet unnamed, dealing with various matters. Provision for regulating house rents has also been promised. The business of the House has been somewhat delayed by the absence of the Prime Minister this week, and owing to the same cause there will be no sitting on Monday nest. It is anticipated that the session will close 'about the end of this month.
