HOTEL MANAGEMENT.
VIEWS OF A MAGISTRATE.
Speaking at the conclusion of the last sitting of the Wellington Licensing Committee, the chairman, Mr. W. G. Ridnpll S.M., said that he desired, on behalf of the committee and himself, to make an observation applicable to the licensing trade generally.' It was evident that a number of premises had not lately been conducted m the way prescribed by the statute. Most of the other hotels in Well- : ington were properly conducted, and reflected credit on both the owners and the licensees. The committee was of opinion that the onus was upon owners to see that they obtained competent men as licensees to take charge of their premises. In dointr so, the owners would not only be assisting the committee in the discharge of its duties, but protecting their own interests as well.
