GERMAN GOLD STEALERS.
THEFTS FROM THE RAND. EFFECTIVE SAFEGUARD. (Received June 19, 1 a.m.) JOHANNESBURG. JUNE 18. The internment of a number of Rand Germans at Delagoa Bay was a decisive factor in countering the activities of a large gang of gold stealers, four of whom, of German descent, were convicted in one week.
It is computed that gold thefts have hitherto amounted to £1,000,000 annually, and at least half has gone to Germany.
