ALIEN ENEMY SUBJECTS.
INDIGNATION AT TEMUKA. REMOVAL OF GERMAN DESIRED. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] Chbistchxtrch, Sunday. The /presence of an unnaturalised German in Temuka for over three weeks is strongly resented by a large number of people. The man was interned some time ago, but he has been permitted by the authorities to visit the town occasionally under guard. It is understood that these visits have been permitted so thai, he might attend to his interests in certain valuable properties which, he acquired when he arrived, a total stranger, in the district. Usually his visits have been of short duration, and his prolonged stay on this occasion has led to much comment on the laxity of the military authorities in dealing with aliens. As a result of certain happenings in connection with the war news of the past few days, some of the leading people met together and decided to send a strongly-worded telegram to the Prime Minister and Minister for Defence, calling their attention to the matter, and strongly urging the removal of the alien to a place where he would be secure from the aggressiveness of a large section of the community.
