STOCKS AND SHARES.
BUSINESS DONE YESTERDAY.
The sharemarkefc opened firm yesterday and a moderate amount of business was transacted. Bank of New Zealands, old issue, had reported business at £11 4s, the market closing at £11 2s 6d and £11 ss, buyer and seller respectively. The fully-paid issue was quoted at £17 2s buyer, and £17 8s seller. New Zealand Insurances were in demand at £6 4s 6d and £6 ss, with no sellers below £6 7s. A sale of South British was reported at £5, shares being placed on the market in the morning at £5 Is. Northern Steamships, contributing issue, had reported business at 7s.
Mining shares showed little fluctuation. Waihis had firm buyers up to 36s 6d, with no sellers below 375. A parcel of Talisman Consolidateds changed hands at 13s, there being further sellers at this price and buyers at 12s 6d.
