MINING NEWS.
WATCHMAN.
The manager of the Watchman mine, Thames, reports that the mill ran last week' on payable ore, won from the parallel reefs above No. 1a level. North of No. 1 rise the stope has reached the end of " ground/-60ft from the rise. The lode is from 18m to 2f* wide and payable. , Rising is in progress, for stoping and filling. North of No. 8 rise two stopes have been in porgress. These are now being filled, and stoping will be resumed, Tho reef maintains its size, and is payable. South of No- 8 rise the ore has again been of low grade. Work lias been suspended here, and the men transferred to the nortji stopes. WAIHI EXTENDED. The sinking of the shaft in the Waihi Extended mine, Waihi, has been continued, the country showing a steady improvement downwards. 'the manager reports that 4ft was sunk last week, making tho total 46ft. Work on the ventilation winze is also in progress, as well as other work for the improvement of the ventilation.
