RAILWAYMAN'S SERVICES.
The retirement from the railway service qf Mr. M. Benney, who for the last 16 years has been stationed in Auckland, a portiou of the time as coaching foreman and the latter part of the time as ticket inspector, was marked by a large gathering of railwaymen last evening in the Railwayman's Social Hall. The district traffic manager, Mr. A. Duncan, presented Mr. Benney with a purse of and referred to the 'fact that he had had a lone and honourable career, extending over ! period of 38 years >n the sen-.ce, and for 18 years had been employed on trains making use of tlio Jhnuitukani- £' 'rt, £ services rendered by N* Benney, briefly responded,
