Mr. George Henry Sherwood, clerk of the Coromandcl .Vardcn's Court, aged 56 years, died on Thursday evening. Ho Trent, to Cororaandel from Balclutha three years ago, and has beer, in bad health for "soma time. Mr. Sherwood was the. son of the late Constable John Sherwood, of Nelson. The remains were forwarded to Nelson for interment by the Waiotahi on Friday evening.

Mr. W. L. Ward, manager of the Bank of Australasia, at Hamilton. Las been appointed to the managership of the branch at Wanganui. Mr. Ward has been in charge of the bank at Hamilton since it was opened* some 10 years ago. and during that time has established nine subsidiary branches in the district. He has been 29 years in the service of the bank, and put in the first few years of his service at Wanganui. whither lie. is now re turning- as manager. He will enter upon his new duties in the first- week of February. Mr. Ward's successor at Hamilton will be Mr. W. Beeslon, now on thd*staff of the bank at Wellington.

Dr. A. McGregor Grant, who for ihn last 11 months has been acting-medical superintendent of the Auckland Hospital, and who has received a commission a-** captain in the New Zealand Medical Corps, wiU complete his duties at the hospital to-morrow, and will leave for thn Awapuni camp to-morrow evening. Dr. Grant has spent five years in the service of the board, and during that time lie has occupied for varying terms the whole of the. positions on the mediral staff. Dr. Grant has been the recipient of several presentations. The house manager, Captain Thomas, and the male staff presented him with a silver spirit flask, the medical staff with an officer's kit-box, the matron and the nursing staff with a travellingcase, and the returned soldiers who have been in-patients at. the hospital with art enlarged photograph of themselves.
