GERMANS CLAIM CAPTURE OF PRISONERS. FRENCH ADMIT ABANDONMENT OF HILL. (Receded January 10. 11 p.m.) London, January 9A French communique states: South of Hartmannsweilerkopf, in the Vosges, the Germans captured a small trench, forcing us to abandon a hill near Hirzstein. The enemy's loss was heavy." A German communique states : " We captured the last trenches on Hartmannsweilerkopf, taken from us on December 21. We took prisoners 20 officers and 1083 chasseurs, and 15 machine-guns."
