SUICIDE OF A SOLDIER.
VERDICT AT THE INQUEST. [ST TiLEORi-FH. —PRESS ASSOCIAXIOX.] Dcnedin. Monday. An inquest was held to-day regarding the I death of William John Willis, one of tie j men who returned by the Maheno on January 5. and who committed suicides* the Dune-din HospitjJ by ratting his threat, The evident show.d that deceased was suffering from d\-ntery, bet the case uu not a bad one. The patient was cheery, and fca-.o no evidence of mental trouble. The razor was in the ■locker at the bedside, where, the bespit* l authorities said, it was customary to keep toilet articles. The coroner, Mr. J. RBartholomew, S.M., said be could not qualify the verdict. He found that deceased committed suicide by catting his throat, and recommended that the hospital authorities take into consideration the : matter of removing dangerous articles from the bedsides of patients, thereby re- • I moving temptation.
