[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.3 Cambridge, Thursday. Vbs final function in connection with the District Queen Carnival was held at the Show Ground yesterday afternoon. It consisted of a series of floral decoration and equestrian events, and a grand procession in which the Carnival Queen, Mrs. Harold Crowther »nd her attendant queens took part. They were seated in a drag artistically decorated and drawn by six grey horses. Others who took part were the master, Mr. Wynn Brown, a number of the Hunt Club, including ladies, and the pack of hounds, decorated motor-cars representing „he allies, polo players, Garrison Band, Mounted Rifles, territorials, National Reserve, and senior cadets decorated vehicles and ponies, and poster girls. The procession encircled the oval, and lined up with pretty effect opposite the grandstand, where cheers were given for the Queen of the Carnival. The awards in the various competitions were : Decorated buggy or gig, Mrs. Boston Couper 1, Mrs. Sleddon 2; decorated motor-car, Mrs. T. Walshe 1, F. Dickens 2; decorated child's pet, D. The fine response which this district has made to the appeal for funds for our wounded soldiers was made possible only by first-class organisation. All the committees which were set up in support of the six queen candidates organised their work on a thorotichly business-like basis, but naturally there were some who voluntarily undertook the lion share of the work. These spared neither time nor money, and their reward must surely be the crowning succesß which the whole movement has attainted. It is somewhat invidious to mention names, but it is scarcelv possible to omit the name of the Mayor. Mr. Mervyn Wells, who. as chairman and latterly as socretarv of the Carnival Committee, has practically given the whole of his time for weeks past to execu- ■ tive work.
