The half-yearly report of the directors of the Hauraki Reefs, Ltd., states, inter alia: Since the last report the adit level has been driven 170 ft and connected with the Hauraki North shaft. The mine drainage La now discharged through this level, thereby saving over 100!t of lifting. As soon as the adit level was finished the mine was unwatered and a crosscut 64ft) in length was driven to connect the bottom of the Hauraki North shaft with the Golconda workings. As mentioned in previous reports gold was being won here when the mine was flooded. The resumption of operations is immediately encouraging, as 2101b of picked stone and some 20 tons of general quartz of good grade have been obtained. The dam has been successful in holding back the water from the adjacent flooded mines, and the machinery erected at the Hauraki North shaft, which was first used when tie mine was unwatered, has worked satisfactorily.

WAITANGI CONSOLIDATED. The report of the manager of the Waitangi Consolidated mine, Tararn, states that during the past week work has been in progress in the east and west sections. The intermediate level has been timbered up for 25ft and the leading stope filled in. A second stope is now in progress, and the ore coming to hand shows good minerals and strong dabs of free gold. In the sloping east, above No. 3 level, a crosscut has been put in. The ore broken looks well, but no gold has been seen. The drive east of No. 2 rise, below No. 2 level, has been timbered for 40ft, and a leading stope is now in progress. The ore from the drive and stope looks very well. J
