TAKAPUNA AFFAIRS.
A meeting of the Takapuna Borough Council was held last evening. Present: The Mayor, Mr. W. Blomfield, and Messrs. R. S. Thompson, R. H. S. Biss, B. Cronin, J. Collins, E. E. Grimwade T. Hanna, W. Lisk, and T. B. Arthur. Complaints regarding roads in the borough were referred to in a letter from the secretary of the Bayswater Ratepayers' Association. The association asked when the council expected to commence operations in connection with the new scheme for loan work in the Bayswater area. The Mayor said that the work, which was in course of preparation, would be commenced as soon as possible. On the motion of Mr. Grimwade, Mr. Blomfield was appointed as a representative to the Lake Takapuna Board of Control. The attention of the council was recently drawn to the bad state of the water supply in Saltburn Road. It was suggested that the unsatisfactory nature of the water was due to old pipes being in use. and the borough engineer, Mr. L. Gannon. was instructed to report on the matter. He stated that the defect had now been remedied.
