* AEROPLANES DROP BOMBS ON METZ STATION.

Wellington, October IT. The following cablegram has been received from the High Commissioner in London, under date of October IT, 2 a.m. :—

"On the western front we completely repulsed the enemy's attacks on the Bois en Hauche, and west of the valley of Souchez. A general bombardment is proceeding on the whole front. In the Vos,!;es we counter-attacked and regained possession of trenches lost. At Hartinanswillerkopf we captured a fortress formerly in the

enemy's hands,

" Our aeroplanes dropped bombs on the station at Metz. Some explosions followed."
