VICTORIES AROUSE ENTHUSISM IN BRITAIN.
STOCK EXCHANGE MORE CHEERFUL IN TONE.
London, September 27. The British advance, which was made on the eve of Sir John French birthday, aroused enthusiasm in Britain. There was nothing approaching mafficking. The Stock Exchange bore a more cheerful tone, and the war loans rallied sharply. A military parade in Throgmorton Street occasioned patriotic demonstrations.

Paris, September 27. The news of the resumption of the offensive has aroused the keenest interest. The French communiques were shown in tho cinema, houses in all the large towns yesterday evening with portraits of General Joffre and other commanders. The audiences sang the Marseillaise, but the word " victory" was not used, the people remembering that the conditions of modern warfare make decisive results extremely difficult.
